10. More info on Secure Sockets Layer(SSL). Back to Top

I will explain this in my own words as easy as I can on a way you might understand better.
Microsoft Internet Explorer(IE)
If you look were the red arrows point in the two images, arrows #1 are pointing to the HTTP protocol in this case it has a extra S making it HTTPS. This means that the website is on a SSL enabled server, making it posible that the data/information that you communicate to that website is protected and encrypted from the website to your computer and vise versa. Then arrows #2 are pointing to a LOCK image, the lock represents that an encryption/confirmation certificate is present. As long as the LOCK DO NOT HAVE a yellow Exclamation Point(!) or Question Mark(?) on it, it is good.
If the LOCK has a (?) on it, it means that either the integrity, privacy or security of that website might be questionable. If it has (!), it means that the certificate could be either bad, fake, belongs to another server o it's a copy of other, or it is one that is not issued by a Certificate Authority.
I hope this helped you understand a little more about security on websites.
